Rockefeller Center
Rockefeller Center is a complex of 19 commercial buildings located in the heart of New York City built from 1930 to 1939. He was the sole financier and was single-handedly responsible for employing thousands of workers throughout the Great Depression. In 1989, it was officially recognized to be a New York City landmark. A plaque on its main building reads: `Rockefeller Center is one of the foremost architectural projects undertaken in American history in terms of scope, urban planning and integration of architecture, art and landscaping. It was developed by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. The center`s original architects were: Reinhard & Hofmeister; Hood, Godly & Fouilhoux; and Corbett, Harrison & MacMurray, the original complex of fourteen buildings was constructed between 1931 and 1939, and provided jobs for thousands of laborers in the building industries throughout the Depression."
