Fatih Sultan Mehmet Mosque
Fatih Sultan Mehmet Mosque was built in 1470 and commissioned by the conqueror of Constantinople, Sultan Mehmet. It was built on an unprecedent scale and size. The mosque suffered damage by several earthquakes, until it was completely destroyed in 1766. Sultan Mustafa III rebuilt the mosque in 1771 under a completely different floorplan. Read more ...
